Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) is currently the largest global business management training program with a focus on starting and improving businesses as a strategy for creating more and better employment for women and men particularly in emerging economies.

SIYB Goal

Originated in the 1970s in Sweden, SIYB supports the sustainable development goals by promoting:

  • Business development policies that support decent job creation, entrepreneurship and encourage the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises
  • Productive employment and decent work for all, including the youth and persons with disabilities.

SIYB in Numbers

The Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) course has trained 15 million people and resulted in the start-up of at least 2.65 million new businesses and led to the creation of close to 9 million jobs worldwide, ILO study says.

 

Audience of SIYB

The individuals who can benefit from the SIYB programs can range from as young as 18 years’ old to the age that a person is capable to start and manage a business.

The minimum required education level is the basic knowledge of reading, writing, calculating and comprehending the training content however, as participation in these programs are based on open competition SIYB program prefers to select the most suitable candidates for its trainings.

SIYB at Startup Valley

As part of its entrepreneurship development mission and our commitment to the creation of jobs through startups, AGHAEZ commits to expanding SIYB training in geographies where we operate through Startup Valley and in coordination with International Labor Organization (ILO) to help more and more individuals start and improve their small and medium-sized businesses. Startup Valley hires certified SIYB trainers to provide SIYB program around different regions.
